Description
A 7-ounce bag of Woodland Scenics medium grade ballast in Cinders - realistic granular scenery material calibrated for HO and larger scales where a slightly coarser stone texture reads correctly. Medium grain ballast closely matches the appearance of prototype crushed rock ballast beds used under railroad ties.
Apply with diluted white glue using the wet-water method: spray diluted water first, then apply thinned glue to wick beneath the ballast without disturbing it. Medium cinder ballast replicates the coal ash ballast used in steam-era facilities and yard areas. The dark, matte texture is essential for authentic mid-century steam-transition-era layout scenes.
Suitable for track ballasting, wagon loads, coal or gravel detail, road shoulders, and industrial site groundwork. The non-magnetic material blends easily with other ballast colors for a realistic mixed-stone effect.
